1. Apply a warm compress for dry eyes: –
If your eyes become dry every now and then place a warm compression your eyelid for 5 to 10 minutes at a time, two or three times each day.
2. Opt for ointment: –
To combat cases in which eye dryness gets unbearable while you sleep you need to a tear replacement/moisture sealing ointment at bedtime to help your pain to ease. These extra-thick OTC eye ointments contain white petroleum jelly and mineral oil and them last much longer in comparison to drops.

If your eyes are feeling dry and irritated the last thing you need to do is to put something on them which can be a contact lens. A contact lens is basically a sponge as it soaks up natural and artificial tears.

If you think that your eyes remain dry and irritated then you should not take an antihistamine as it will facilitate your eyes even with much dryness.

People who used to spend the majority of their working day in front of a computer screen they should try to position their computer so that it is directly at eye level or so that you are looking slightly down at the computer screen. Eye experts recommend making the following changes to your workstation to minimize eye dryness and eyestrain if you focus on the computer all day: –
Screen distance: Try to sit about 50cm from the computer monitor and a little further away than reading distance, with the top of the screen at or below eye level.
Equipment: Choose a monitor that tilts or swivels and has both contrast and brightness controls. Furniture: Make very sure that you have an adjustable chair
Reference material: Put the papers on a document holder so that you need not see looking back and forth, turning your head and refocussing your eyes.
Lightning: Modify lighting to eliminate reflections or glare.
Rest breaks: Take rest breaks from time to time and blink often to keep your eyes from drying out.
